2010 JMATE Recognition Awards
The call for nominations for the 2010 JMATE Recognition Awards is now closed. Below is a description of each type of award that will be presented at the conference as well as a link to information on past recipients.
Evidence-Based Practice Community Leader Awards: Three recognition awards will be given to a community leader in the categories of (1) youth, (2) parent/caregiver, and (3) other community leader (e.g. clinician, program director, policy maker or other community leader or group) that have personally demonstrated a consistent commitment to move adolescent treatment towards evidence-based practice. Review criteria include evidence of (1) involvement in the implementation, decision making or advocacy efforts to use evidence-based manuals, protocols, knowledge and technologies; (2) sustained commitment to evidence-based practices; and (3) the extent of the focus specifically on adolescent treatment and recovery.
Evidence-Based Practice Program Award: One recognition award will be given to a clinical program or agency that has demonstrated a consistent commitment and movement towards evidence-based practice in adolescent substance abuse treatment. Review criteria include evidence of (1) using evidence-based manuals, protocols, knowledge, and technologies, using own data to improve implementation, management and fidelity; (2) sustained commitment to evidence-based practices; and (3) the extent of the focus on adolescent treatment and recovery.
Government Facilitation of Evidence-Based Practice Award: One recognition award will be given to a government official who has helped to move the field towards evidence-based practice related to adolescent substance abuse treatment. Key review criteria include evidence of (1) facilitating the development, adoption and/or use of evidence-based practices in community-based settings; (2) sustained committment to work with community-based treatment providers to help them actually use the knowledge/skills/materials/technologies; and (3) the extent of the focus on adolescent treatment and recovery.
Research to Evidence-Based Practice Award: One recognition award will be given to a researcher who has helped bridge the gap between research and evidence-based practice related to adolescent substance abuse treatment. Key review criteria include evidence of (1) producing findings and materials that can and have been used in practice; (2) sustained commitment to work with community-based treatment providers to help them actually use the knowledge/skills/materials/technologies; and (3) the extent of the focus on adolescent treatment and recovery.
Best Poster at the 2010 Joint Meeting on Adolescent Treatment Effectiveness: One recognition award will be given to an author of a JMATE poster that best reflects efforts to move the field towards evidence-based practice related to adolescent substance abuse treatment. Key review criteria include evidence of (1) facilitating the development, adoption and/or use of evidence-based practices in community-based settings; (2) clarity and quality of the poster presentation; and (3) the extent of the focus on adolescent treatment and recovery. The Awards Committee will review the posters and make their selection at the conference.
