Theme
The overarching theme for JMATE 2010 is "Synergy Envisioned ~ Action Inspired." The purpose of this theme is to continue to promote synergistic working relationship among researchers, policymakers, youth/families, program planners, and service providers and to inspire action to improve the health and well being of youth and families. Utlizing the most cutting edge research, JMATE 2010 will serve as a platform for service providers and researchers to work in concert with youth/families/communities; juvenile justice; education; and child welfare.
It is expected that as a result of these synergistic relationships, the field will act to promote/improve services for youth by:
- Implementing, adapting, and improving evidence based assessments and treatments;
- Conducting research using new and innovative research hypotheses and methodologies;
- Analyzing policy issues to improve the systems that support the delivery of treatment and recovery services; and
- Helping to decrease barriers and stigma associated with accessing services and recovery supports
The 2007 and 2008 JMATE program themes were "Join with Families, Youth, and Communities" and "Addressing Diversity." Given the continued relevance of these topics, the 2010 program committee is encouraging abstract submissions to include information on how the session will address the issues of family and health disparities.
The 2010 JMATE includes six concentration track areas. The purpose of the tracks are to (1) organize the JMATE program into relevant topic areas and (2) encourage multiple presentations within these track areas to allow for greater information exchange. The concentration tracks include:
- Treatment System Frameworks
- Family/Youth
- Evidence-Based Practice
- Integrated Services and Recovery
- Juvenile Justice
- Special Issue Topics
